Has it happened to you? Ever? You see a piece of jewelry and it makes you stop and stare. You find yourself drawn to it, like an invite to come hang out together. You might walk away convincing yourself that you do not need yet another piece of jewelry...or you walk right up to the counter with so much Love in your heart and buy that piece of jewelry. If you've walked away, did you find yourself thinking about that piece of jewelry that made you stop and stare? Do you find yourself thinking of ways to pop back over and see if that piece of jewelry is still there? Did you go back and buy it and feel complete joy?
I have. The one I am thinking of right now is a Amethyst cluster ring that I could not even stop thinking about. I was about 27 yrs old. I saw it in a cool crystal shop that joined a yummy sandwich shop. Oh yeah, I found reasons to grab lunch there that week after I saw that ring. You're probably wondering why I didn't go in and buy it? Was it because I was in my 20's and not a lot of funds? Was it not great quality work? Nope. None of that. The ring was a bit too big. Yet, I still thought of it like a cute guy I saw and really liked...crazy right? Hahaha.
I finally went in an bought the ring I Fell In Love with so completely! Then I went to my local jewelry repair shop and asked them to size it down. (This was all before I became a metalsmith and now know the task I had asked them to do with a that cluster ring!) They were great and made it fit perfectly and I wore it with love everyday for soo many years! I have since fallen in love with other pieces and they end up being added to my most favorite jewelry loves of all. I treasure them all!
That's how I hope most or all of my pieces find their homes. I want them to "fall in love" and be fallen in love with! To be so loved and worn with such joy.
I have seen this happen when I've been at craft shows or trunk shows. People with no intention to buy, fall in love with a piece I've made. You might think that's the right time to swoop in and make a sale right? Nope. Not me. I step back and watch what happens when the customer looks at the piece I made and their expression on their face, their body language and their energy. When they fall in love with my jewelry, I see all these wonderful things happen. It's beautiful and I don't want to interfere with that. If it's meant to be, it's meant to be.
Then they will come to me and I know they've experienced what I did with the Amethyst ring.
Another form of True Love.
