Oops! I almost forgot to mention my first piece of jewelry of 2016!!
I made this dainty sweet turquoise pendant with a beautiful Campo Fria turquoise cabochon.
It's now for sale in my Etsy Shop~http://bit.ly/MOTMEtsy
This is all handmade by my hands. I made a little home for this pretty little stone. It was really an accident that it all came together this way. The bezel (the part holding the stone) was a scrap that just by chance looked like it might fit this stone (which I wasn't even planning on working with at the time). Well, it did fit. The same thing happened with the bit of twisted sterling silver wire. It was a piece of scrap waiting to be added to a beautiful creation. It fit perfectly too. It was meant to be. I love how that happens. That's one of the reasons I am so in love with this craft.
I had a nice relaxing afternoon at my jewelry bench yesterday. I moved forward on a few pieces that needed to progress and it felt good. I decided to film it and post it on my YouTube channel (Mothers On The Mountain Jewelry). It's just my hands working away while listening to good music. See what I mean by "it was a nice relaxing afternoon?" :) If you enjoy watching people create with their hands, then I hope you enjoy the video>
The videos are in two parts~ here's part I
Here's part II-
Happy New Year everyone! We made it!
I hope the holidays were good to you all and you had lots of love, laughter and good food!
This year starts off by realizing this is my first winter really as a business and I've learned it's cold in my garage where my studio is. So I created a "winter bench" so I can continue to keep on making jewelry without freezing. The soldering is still in the garage, but the bench work will be in a little spare room off the garage.
I feel good about this move because it's allowing me to keep on doing what I love. I'm still learning how to incorporate silversmithing into my life to keep my business going and not have it be a hobby. That's part of the journey.
If you had told me 5 yrs ago this is what I'd be doing right now, I wouldn't of believed you! So thank you to 2015 for teaching me a lot about being on my own.
Now in 2016 I'm taking another class at my local Jr. College this February. I'm excited about that. There is always more to learn and I'm still young at this craft and want more knowledge in my basket of tricks!
So with all that going on, I think Winter will hopefully be full of new creations coming from my imagination! I can't wait to see!
Have a great January and Hug Often!
I want to share with you two special custom orders I did for a dear friend's Mom. Sea glass from Loch Ness along with a Ten Pence.
